Inspiring trust and cooperation is the job of leadership. However, and this is wholly important – You ar not a leader to be popular. You are a leader to lead. People yearn to be led. Simon Sinek has incorporated great ideas on what is now become obsolescing leadership.
Some leaders are consensus builders. Some leaders prefer to manage. Then there are others who yearn to be loved by everyone. Bear in mind, there are numerous times when no one can bear the responsibility and the consequences of making hard decisions which may involve, letting people go, closing a plant, or cut funding for a project.
What is the bottomline? Transparency. Let your people know what is occurring. Recognize leadership is not invincibility. You are not a holy seer. You don;;t have all the answers.
